The Thousand and One Nights were thought by anonymous people more than ten centuries ago, transiting through this immense Orient from India to Persia to Egypt, amalgamating all genres: tales, poems, prayers, history powers, vices, virtues, love and eroticism.

The Nights fascinate and enlighten us because Scheherazade mobilizes all her powers to survive, her intelligence as well as her sensuality.

It is a story of records and fantasies that has inspired all genres of art, in all eras, from Goethe to Walt Disney, to this little-known vision of Van Dongen which highlights what the fauve has become in front of this world and this work.
