Farman Airlines (Anglo-Saxon designation Farman Airlines) is a French airline.
The Société Générale des Transports Aériens or SGTA (often called Lignes Farman) was created in 1924 by Henri, Maurice and Dick Farman, with a capital of twelve million francs.
Purpose: school and air transport
Headquarters: 167, rue de Silly in Boulogne-Billancourt. From 1926, its head office was located at 4, rue Edouard-VII in Paris.
Center: Toussus-le-Noble (Yvelines)
SGTA was created to cope with the global change in air transport. The first decision was the specialization of staff into test personnel and line personnel.
Traffic management was also streamlined by introducing the concept of passenger-kilometres as well as kilogram-kilometres for cargo and mail.
