The National Museum of Modern Art (MNAM) is dedicated to modern and contemporary art of the twentieth and twenty-first centuries. It is located in Paris in the center Georges Pompidou, where it occupies two floors (contemporary art on the 4th floor and modern art on the 5th floor), in addition to the Brancusi workshop, temporary exhibition galleries and various other spaces related to the museum . The collection is the second largest in the world after that of the Museum of Modern Art in New York and brings together more than 100,000 works of which only a part is exposed in rotation. The hanging is normally revised every two years. Temporary exhibitions are also presented. The initial fund inherited from the Musée du Luxembourg (803 works, brought to 1415 works by 612 acquisitions from 1937 to 1946) has been considerably enriched since 1947 and partly constituted by donations from artists (Picasso, Braque, Matisse, Chagall, Delaunay, etc.) and their heirs, including the bequest of workshop funds (Brancusi, Kandinsky, Dufy, Rouault) and donations from private collectors (André Lefèvre, Baroness Gourgaud, Raoul La Roche, Marie Cuttoli (in) and Henri Laugier, Louise and Michel Leiris (218 works), Dr. Robert Le Masle, Paul and Lucienne Rosenberg, Marguerite, Aime and Adrien Maeght, Daniel-Henry Kahnweiler, Daniel Cordier (651 works), Heinz Berggruen, Florence and Daniel Guerlain (1157) works), etc.) or with the help of the Heritage Fund, as well as by important dations (Man Ray, Chagall, Duchamp, Breton, Derain, Dubuffet, etc.).
